Portable wifi devices
Many caravan sites will include wifi as part of your yearly fees but they can be slow or unreliable, especially during busy times. If this is the case then I highly recommend a portable wifi hotspot device. It’s a small, rechargeable device that allows you to connect multiple devices to it for strong, secure, fast wifi.
It works anywhere with mobile phone signal and you can use pay-as-you-go mobile data to keep costs down.

Having a portable device means you can take it anywhere with you so you’re not confined to your caravan and can work from any location.

I personally use the Nighthawk M2 Mobile Router but budget ones are available depending on your needs. Portable wifi routers can also be handy for long car journeys, especially if you have wifi reliant teenagers in the back!

A laptop stand
If you’re working from a laptop at your caravan then a laptop stand is going to make things much easier. If you sit at a table the stand will elevate your laptop, encouraging you to sit up straight and avoid the dreaded backache from hunching over your computer.

If you’re working from the sofa (which is often where I end up!) then a stand will avoid your laptop overheating and make it more comfortable to work for long periods of time.

A large monitor
If you find it difficult to work with a small laptop screen then consider buying a large monitor. You can simply plug your laptop in and have a big screen to avoid straining your eyes or use a special adaptor so you can use two screens.

It’s a simple and affordable piece of kit that can make the world of difference to your workday!

If you’re working from a bedroom then the screen can also double up as a second TV. You can watch on-demand TV on your laptop and display it on your large monitor

Noise cancelling wireless headphones
If you find background noises distracting while you work then you’ll need a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones or earbuds. You may choose to play some background music to keep you focussed or simply set them to block out all external noises for complete peace and quiet. I would recommend wireless headphones for ease and simplicity.

I love the JBL Live Pro+ TWS headphones as they’re comfortable and block out all noises!

An insulated coffee cup
If you’re struggling to find a quiet space to make important calls then the best place is usually your car! While it may not be the most glamorous of settings, it’s comfortable and quiet and often easier than turfing your entire family out of the caravan. Make sure you’ve got a good coffee cup filled to the brim in case those calls go on for longer than expected!

Embrace flexible working
If you’re lucky enough to have the option to work flexible hours then embrace it and rethink your work schedule. Don’t spend the best hours of the day chained to your desk, especially when you’re in a beautiful location with beaches and countryside to explore.

I like to work in two chunks when I’m working from my caravan. I’ll get up early and do a few hours in the morning and then take a 3-4 hour lunch break before coming back to work for a few hours in the evening. Plan your work around your day rather than planning your day around your work!
