Making An Insurance Claim

Posted 4 August by Steve Munro

In the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim on your NACO policy, there are several things you can do to make the process as smooth as possible:

  • Take photos.

These days, most people have a camera in their pocket and, particularly in the case of damage to the caravan or lodge, a picture is worth a thousand words.

  • Inform the police.

If there has been criminal activity involved in the loss, you will need a crime reference number for your claim to proceed.

  • List missing/damaged items.

The sooner you can quantify your loss, the quicker the process of settling the claim.

  • Tell us.

Give our friendly team a call and describe what has happened. If the policy covers the event, you will be sent a claim form. Complete and return this as soon as possible.

  • Get estimates for repair.

In cases where your holiday home needs to be repaired, we generally require two quotes for the work. We understand that you want your claim dealt with as quickly as possible, so the sooner your quotes are provided, the sooner the settlement process can begin.

  • Total Loss – the nightmare scenario.

Fortunately, these are few and far between, but if you suffer a total loss (your holiday home is completely destroyed) it can be devastating. Follow the above procedures, as appropriate, and give us a call as soon as possible.

As caravan people, we know how upsetting it can be when your holiday home is damaged or interfered with. Our claims team have dealt with thousands of claims over the years and you can give them a call to check the progress of your claim.
