The cost of your insurance policy will invariably be an important part of your decision-making process when looking to insure your caravan or lodge. Whilst it is a factor, it shouldn’t necessarily be the deciding factor – make sure you’re happy with the cover and the company too as a low-cost policy isn’t always going to offer good coverage.

Market value insurance policies tend to start around the £70 mark – depending on ‘sums insured’ and coverage. Check our full guide to calculating your sums insured here.

New for old insurance policies can be offered for as little as £125 but this will mean that your structure sum insured will be very low – the premium will be linked to the sum insured (how much the caravan is insured for) and the geographical location. It’s important to make sure that you’ve got enough cover for both your contents and structure.

Many people will often compare the price of a household insurance policy against the price of insuring a static caravan or lodge. However, the risk is different for all sorts of reasons, it’s best to take a good look at all available polices, compare cover and check the small print!
